Breast cancer is a relentless adversary, affecting millions of women and men globally. Consistent statistics estimate that one in eight women will face a breast cancer diagnosis at some point in their lives. However, amidst the challenges, there is hope. Numerous organizations and dedicated professionals work tirelessly to prevent, diagnose, treat, and support those affected by this disease, from diagnosis to post-mastectomy treatment, lessening its impact on individuals and families.

The American Association of Breast Care Professionals (AABCP) is a beacon of support and knowledge in the field. This year marks a remarkable milestone as the AABCP celebrates its 20th anniversary, a testament to both its unwavering commitment to its mission and to the profession’s support.
Back in 2005, a passionate group of breast care professionals came together, driven by concerns over significant regulatory changes. They recognized a pressing need for a professional organization dedicated solely to post-mastectomy care. Through meticulous planning and countless late nights, the American Association of Breast Care Professionals was born, igniting a transformative journey.
AABCP’s Mission
The AABCP’s mission is clear: to advance the mastectomy fitter profession by providing enriching educational opportunities and advocating for its members. Furthermore, the organization strives to raise public awareness of the necessity of lifelong post-surgical care and to empower individuals on their healing journeys.
Over the past 20 years, the American Association of Breast Care Professionals, along with its sister organization, the International Society of Breast Care Professionals, has emerged as the premier professional body in post-mastectomy care.
