The American Association of Breast Care Professionals wears many hats as a representative organization for post-mastectomy fitters. Founded in 2006, it became increasingly clear that mastectomy fitters and other breast care professionals needed organized advocacy to maintain their ability to treat breast cancer survivors appropriately.

Government Relations and Political Advocacy are Core Pillars for AABCP, advocating for over two decades to support Post-Mastectomy Fitter products and services.

AABCP represents the best interests of certified mastectomy professionals at all levels of government, including Local, State, and Federal, appearing before Agencies including the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Serivces, and providing education to private insurers.

AABCP’s Mission: Support, Foster, Defend & Expand the Profession

AABCP tracks legislation and regulatory issues affecting the profession. The Association testifies at hearings, introduces legislation, and proposes rule changes that would protect providers and quality care.

As a primary organization in fitting and breast care, AABCP is developing numerous courses in multiple languages as pre-professional education, exam preparation, and continuing education. Representatives have appeared at national and local events, on television, radio, and weekly on the Measured Moments podcasts, constantly raising public awareness for the mastectomy profession.

The organization has been involved in breast cancer research and post-mastectomy outcomes projects to continue the evolution of our professional services.

As laws continue to change, AABCP, part of the Global Breast Care Network, has witnessed multi-faceted attempts at the erosion of breast cancer survivor benefits. Through support of our professional community, AABCP has develop minimum Post-Mastectomy Care Standards vital to compassionate care.
