WHAT IS AABCP?
AABCP is a North American professional member association that engages in legislative advocacy and the strategic unification of mastectomy fitters and the breast care profession.
In 2023, AABCP partnered with the Global Breast Care Association to provide education and professional standards to mastectomy fitters and breast care professionals worldwide.
The American Association of Breast Care Professionals supports its members and the mastectomy fitter profession by providing education, training, and continuing education for mastectomy fitters.
Part of AABCP’s core mission is to support the hundreds of small women-owned businesses that provide post-mastectomy services.
A Mission For The Future
In celebration of its 20th year, AABCP redefined and focused its Mission Statement to better align with the profession and to keep a weather eye on four key elements of action: Support, Foster, Expand, and Defend.
AABCP – American Association of Breast Care Professionals
The American Association of Breast Care Professionals raises public awareness of the need for appropriately trained and certified mastectomy fitters. Over the last 20 years, AABCP has developed beneficial relationships with businesses, agencies, certifying bodies such as the American Board for Certification in Prosthetics, Orthotics and Pedorthics, and the Board of Certification, and media contacts in support of post-mastectomy care.
The definition and delivery of healthcare, specifically mastectomy fitting, is constantly evolving, and with change, an opportunity is born.
AABCP believes that by highlighting the unique qualities of both mastectomy professionals and the unique medically necessary services provided by Certified Post-Mastectomy Fitters, an open dialogue regarding the continued and unquestionable need for post-mastectomy services will be possible.
AABCP Membership
Membership dues, while kept at a minimum, are the primary source of income for the post-mastectomy organization, supporting everything from regulatory research and government relations outreach to public awareness campaigns. AABCP also relies heavily on membership, grants, and sponsorships for much of its general education activities.
Joining a professional association can be challenging because quantifying a one-to-one return on investment is difficult; however, membership offers numerous benefits, as the Association’s primary focus is the post-mastectomy profession.
